The hunting at the Buffalo Nickel Ranch is second to none, but the beautiful lodge, great food and warm hospitality are what make the Buffalo Nickel stand out as one of Texas' best hunting ranches. I can't wait to go back.

A Place Called the Buffalo Nickel Ranch
About twice a year I get this unstoppable urge to return to one of my favorite places on this planet, the Buffalo Nickel Ranch located in the southwestern Texas hill country. My life long friend, Claudio and his wife Ana own this very special place.
Once I drive through the majestic gate and enter the grounds and start the half a mile drive to the Ranch house, I gradually realize that I’m entering a different world. Maybe I’ll see some mouflons jump across the dirt road or perhaps spot some fallow deer with majestic racks in the distance. The property abounds with all sorts of native and exotic game, animals and birds. As I approach the magnificent Ranch house surrounded by big oaks and mesquite trees and step out of the truck, my eyes are always immediately drawn to the beautiful blue-green Nueces River running lazily a mere one hundred yards down from the house.
A unique but pleasant mix of Africa and Texas greet you as you enter the house and walk into the great room filled with a variety of trophies from around the world. As I stand there taking it all in, I immediately feel I‘m back home where I belong. It does usually not take very long before I sit on the expansive porch with a beer or perhaps a single malt scotch in my hand, admiring the river and stunning scenery directly in front of me. Any stress, anxiety or concerns I may have had upon arriving at the ranch have now miraculously vanished.
The Buffalo Nickel Ranch provided inspiration and an important part of the setting for my suspense novel, Global Reset. For those who are fortunate enough to visit this special place, you’ll enjoy how prominently the Ranch and the nearby Uvalde are featured in my book.
There is no doubt that I’ll continue to return to the Buffalo Nickel Ranch once or twice a year for as long as I can. Right now I’m working on the exciting sequel to Global Reset and part of this story is written during my stay at the Ranch.
Thanks Claudio and Ana for all the good times - I look forward to many more!
The following testimonial has been left in its original language for those of you who can understand Italian. Enjoy!
